Data Standard v6.0 introduces changes to the Ed-Fi Unifying Data Model (Ed-Fi UDM, aka Ed-Fi core model) for domains commonly used by student information systems, assessment vendors, and educator pipeline systems. It is the successor to the v5 Data Standard, with the most recent release being Data Standard v5.2.

Key breaking changes in Data Standard v6.0 include:

  • decoupling demographics and contact information from StudentEducationOrganizationAssociation into dedicated entities
  • adding optional identity entities for managing multiple identifiers
  • updating the assessment model
  • expanding core coverage of educator programs with new domains such as Credential, Educator Preparation Program, Path, Performance Evaluation, and Recruiting & Staffing.

Data Standard v6.1 introduces non-breaking changes to support tracking of responsible education organizations and address characteristics. It also includes an Early Access domain for capturing detailed individualized student program (IEP) information, along with events related to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) at the student level.

This documentation describes important properties and features of these releases.
